Visual Sokoban

- Frequently Asked Questions -

The game doesn't work, I get this error message: "Error loading from file", what can I do ?

If you get this error message, or any other one, then it means that you don't have the Visual Basic 6 libraries, let me explain: this game is programmed in the Visual Basic language, but if you want to be able to launch any software made with Visual Basic, you must have those libraries. You can download them at http://www.multimania.com/musiccity/files/vbrun60.exe.
What's the difference between "Save to file..." and "Quick save" ?

The "Save to file..." option allows you to save a game on the disk, turn off your computer, re-launch the game and then continue the previously saved game, whereas the "Quick save" option saves the game only in memory, this means that you won't be able to load your game after having exited the game, but this option is faster than the "Save to file..." option, that's why it's called "Quick save".
The "Undo last step" key shortcut Ctrl+U is hard to do, and I use this function very often, is there another key shortcut for this function ?

Yes, you can also use the "Backspace" key to undo your last step.
In the Level Editor software, can I change the type of the blocks of my level in a faster way ?

Yes, there's a little tip which will allow you to modify the blocks faster: hold the shift key pressed and move over the blocks you want to be changed, they will switch to the type of block selected for the left button of the mouse.
Can I link the .vsk, .rec and .sav files to Visual Sokoban ?

Yes, it is possible to link the .vsk, .rec and .sav formats to Visual Sokoban, just double click on the file you would like to link and click on the "Other..." button, select "Visual Sokoban.exe" and then this format should be linked to Visual Sokoban.
The colors of the game are totally messed up, what can I do ?

If the colors of Visual Sokoban are messed up, it means that you run Windows with 16 or 256 colors, you must change your configuration to 65000 colors (16 bits) or higher, then the game should be ok and even faster.
Can I use levels made with other Sokoban games such as levels in .xsb format ?

For now it is not possible to use Sokoban levels which are not in .pak format, but I will soon create a Level Converter which will convert .xsb or .txt levels to the .pak format, check the Visual Sokoban HomePage, I will propose this Level Converter software as soon as possible.
When will you release a new version of Visual Sokoban ? And when will you have new levels ? And when will you give more skins ?

I don't know, I don't know, and I don't know... there is no foreseen date for all that... But you can check the Visual Sokoban HomePage regularly to find new stuffs. I hope I will receive lots of levels and skins which will be made available on my site.
